The following table provides general qualifications and respective pay grades. Actual pay may vary depending on position and student qualifications and experience. Click here to view the Portland/Vancouver Locality Pay Table.

General Qualifications Grade
None GS-1
High school diploma or equivalent GS-2
1 year education above high school or 6 months general experience GS-3
2 years education above high school or 1 year general experience GS-4
Bachelor’s Degree GS-5
1 year graduate-level education or Bachelor’s Degree with *Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) GS-7
2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's Degree or Master's or equivalent graduate degree GS-9
3 years graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or specialized experience GS-11
