Career Development

Training, Education, and Development

At BPA one of our major goals is to continue as a High Performing Organization. To accomplish this we place high importance on the continual development of our employees.

Assessment
We offer individual and work assessments, including feedback programs to identify strengths and weaknesses, and to create a development plan. Our programs offer a wide variety of training courses and short-term work experiences within BPA as development opportunities.

Pre-Management
BPA offers a set of courses for the aspiring manager.

New Supervisor
We offer training, workshops, and self-discovery assistance for our new supervisors to smooth the transition into their new responsibilities.

Management/Executive
Competency-based training and external offerings are made available for the continued development of the seasoned leader.

Technical Training
The Technical Training group coordinates the continuing educational needs for apprentices, electrical crafts trainees, engineering disciplines, and for fully qualified journeymen, craftsmen, and engineers.

Online Learning
BPA offers two different web-based training opportunities for our employees so that online courses may be tailored to each employee’s needs.

Technical Career Paths
BPA provides technical career advancement to positions at or above the GS-13 grade level for positions that management designates as having a highly specialized area(s) of expertise, usually of a world-, national-, or regional-class level, that are essential to BPA’s future success.

Consecutive Accelerated Training/Promotion
BPA provides a consecutive accelerated training and promotion program for certain engineering and Public Utilities Specialist positions for grades GS-5 through GS-12 allowing these employees the potential to advance more rapidly.
